Apple Crunch

A generous scoop of this warm dessert with vanilla ice cream on top is a heavenly delight.  Peaches can also be used instead of apples, but I haven't tried it.
Also, don't be daunted by the list of ingredients--almost everything should already be in your kitchen.

1 1/4 hours | 30 min prep
Serves 12

Ingredients
  • 6-8 cups peeled and sliced tart apples (use your new apple peeler/slicer I talked about!)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups oatmeal
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2/3 cup melted butter
  • Vanilla ice cream
Directions
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine the first 5 ingredients.
  • Mix well and place in a greased 9x13 baking dish.
  • In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder and melted butter.
  • Crumble together well, and sprinkle over the apple mixture.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and get ready for a flavor explosion in your mouth.
